Daylight Saving Time...
Here in Indiana, the powers that be decided to "move Indiana forward" by giving us DST. I am a firm believer that it is WRONG for Indiana. Why you ask? Indiana is just stuck in the middle of the Eastern and Central time zones. The line splits the state in half! So we could either be on the ass end of the Eastern Time Zone or on the early side of Central time zone. So actually staying with Eastern Standard Time was great for us. We would be Eastern for the winter months and Central for the summer months, we never had to reset clocks and everyone is happy... here.
Businesses claim that it confused those out of state, and that cost us revenue. I am sure it lead to confusion twice a year during time changes, but come on it is the difference of one hour! What is the big deal? One time change, and a company gets used to it. You either get something an hour earlier or an hour later. We have lived with it for 30 years, NOW we need to change?
I am in a county that wants to be in the Central Time Zone. Thank goodness, I couldn't stand being in Eastern. Why do we need sunlight till 10 at night during the summer? We would have that with Eastern Daylight Saving Time, and our schoolkids would stand in darkness for like 6 months of the year with it too. That sounds great to me too...
Well you get the drift. I also don't like DST because it will kill our Drive-In movie theatre business. In this day of age, these family friendly businesses are dying left and right, and are rare outside of Indiana... but here they still thrive. We shouldn't lose this just in the name of so-called "progress."
