Thinking bout 2008...

There is a great opinion piece in the Indy Star about Senator Bayh.

The word Democrat has always appeared next to Evan Bayh's name. Election after election, it's been right there on the ballot.

So now, nearly 20 years after Indiana voters first embraced the good-looking son of a senator, it's interesting to watch as people realize they suddenly, finally have themselves a Democrat.

And not an "Indiana Democrat" -- you know, the kind that can pass for a moderate Republican in bluer states. No, by sticking his finger in Supreme Court nominee John Roberts' eye, Sen. Bayh has made clear he'll be acting like a real Democrat.

The piece has a great ending, who can top a Mitch reference?

Thus, for a few days, Bayh will be controversial in Indiana. But come on, this is Bayh. He's never too controversial. On many issues, he is still a conservative Democrat. And even Bayh's stated reason for opposing Roberts -- "We simply do not know enough about his views" -- had the senator's typical lack of fire.
This controversy will fade.

After all, when it comes to controversy, Indiana politicians are now judged by a new measurement -- the Mitch Stick.

By that measure, Bayh's decision to oppose a Supreme Court nominee barely registers. It's not like he's messing with our clocks.

I personally would like to see McCain be president. I think if the republicans had picked him instead of Bush that we would be much better off now. Yet if I can't vote for him, then I vote for Bayh. If neither of them are an option, I will just sulk and vote Democrate... because does it really matter who you vote for in this state? The Republican will get the electoral votes anyway.
